Petra van Oort
Petra
van Oort (1973) started her piano studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory
Amsterdam with Marcel Baudet and completed her studies with Jan Wijn in 1998.
She participated in the Princess Christina Competition twice: in 1989 she became
a finalist and in 1991 she won a first price. In 1992 she won the third price in
the National Competition of the Young Musical Talent Foundation in the
Netherlands (SJMN). Through the years she followed several master classes. In
1998 Petra began studying German Language and Culture at the VU University in
Amsterdam and at the Philipps-Universität of Marburg (Ger.) and obtained her
Master’s degree in German Literature at the VU University in 2003. From 2003
until 2006 she worked as the personal assistant to conductor Prof. Hartmut
Haenchen. Besides her performances with the Rondane Quartet she gives chamber
music concerts with several other musicians, performs as a soloist, accompanist
of (song) recitals and she owns her private teaching practice.
